Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate a new vegetable sub-yard at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Dahegam city of Gandhinagar district. The inauguration is part of the ‘Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations of the market committee, focusing on agricultural marketing, cooperative development, and farmers’ welfare. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other dignitaries are expected to attend the event.
According to the Ministry of Cooperation, the inauguration aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation). This vision emphasizes enhancing farmers’ incomes, modernizing agricultural marketing infrastructure, and strengthening the rural economy. The newly developed vegetable sub-yard aims to bolster agricultural marketing facilities in the region, as highlighted by officials during the program.
During the event, Amit Shah will also participate in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign by planting a sapling. This nationwide tree plantation initiative encourages individuals to plant a tree in honor of their mothers. Additionally, the Union Minister will release a commemorative publication marking the Amrit Mahotsav of the Dahegam APMC and engage with members of the APMC Board.
Agricultural Produce Market Committees serve as regulated marketplaces ensuring transparent trading, fair price discovery, and access to market infrastructure for farmers. In Gujarat, APMCs play a vital role in the marketing of agricultural commodities, forming a significant part of the state’s cooperative ecosystem. Before the Dahegam event, Minister Shah will inaugurate the 11th INTERPOL Digital Forensics Expert Group Meeting at the National Forensic Sciences University in Gandhinagar.
