The crisis within the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) escalated as senior actresses criticized president Shwetha Menon for promoting communal division and stifling dissent. This led to actor-turned-Congress MLA Ramesh Pisharody resigning as convener of the ad hoc committee. Actresses Ansiba Hassan, Mala Parvathy, Usha Haseena, and Maya Viswanath made serious allegations against Shwetha Menon, claiming attempts to portray Ansiba in a negative light.
Mala Parvathy accused the leadership of isolating Ansiba by spreading communal narratives and suppressing differing opinions. She highlighted instances where she was prevented from expressing her views during meetings. Referring to a leaked audio conversation between Shwetha Menon and Ramesh Pisharody, Mala Parvathy alleged that it was done with a specific agenda in mind.
Usha Haseena joined the criticism, accusing Shwetha Menon of power hunger and holding her responsible for AMMA’s current crisis. She condemned the release of the private conversation and warned of consequences if Shwetha continued in her role. Ansiba Hassan raised concerns about financial irregularities within the executive committee and criticized the handling of dissenting voices.
Ramesh Pisharody’s resignation added to the turmoil, with him emphasizing that the released audio was intentional and expressing disappointment over the situation. He clarified that the corruption allegations were unproven and reiterated his commitment to resolving the crisis within AMMA. As tensions rise and accusations fly, the future of the actors’ body remains uncertain.
