Actress Amrita Rao honored legendary actress Madhubala on her birth anniversary by recreating the iconic song ‘Aaiye Meherbaan’ from the 1958 classic “Howrah Bridge” at the historic Howrah Bridge in Kolkata. Amrita shared a monochrome video on social media, capturing the old-world charm and attempting to revive the magic of Madhubala against the backdrop of the iconic bridge. The song “Aaiye Meherbaan” from “Howrah Bridge” remains one of Madhubala’s most celebrated performances, continuing to be a chartbuster even after decades.

Amrita Rao made her Bollywood debut with “Ab Ke Baras” in 2002 and gained fame through hits like “Ishq Vishk,” “Vivah,” and “Main Hoon Na.” She last appeared in the 2019 film “Thackeray,” portraying Meena Tai Thackeray. Known for sharing glimpses of her personal life and career moments on social media, Amrita continues to engage with her fans through nostalgic posts.

Madhubala, known as the ‘Venus of Indian Cinema,’ began her acting career as a child artist in 1942 and rose to fame with films like “Mahal,” “Mr. & Mrs. ’55,” and “Mughal-e-Azam.” Her final film, “Jwala,” released posthumously in 1971 after her untimely death at the age of 36 in 1969 due to a prolonged heart ailment.
