Amritsar Commissionerate Police successfully dismantled an illegal arms smuggling module by apprehending three operatives and seizing seven sophisticated pistols, as confirmed by Punjab’s Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav. The arrested individuals are Resham Singh, also known as Ghulla, Sumit, also known as Sachin, and Vishal Kumar, all residents of different areas in Punjab.
The seized pistols comprise three 9mm Glock Pistols, a 9mm Beretta from Italy, a 9mm Zigana from Turkey, a 9mm PX5 Glock from Turkey, and a .30 bore pistol. Investigations suggest that the arrested suspects had direct communication with smugglers in Pakistan through social media platforms, who would send illegal arms shipments via drones.
According to DGP Yadav, the accused would receive these illicit weapons from Pakistan-based handlers and then distribute them to their intended recipients. The police are currently delving deeper into the case to establish the complete network involved in this illegal arms trade. Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, shared that the operation was meticulously planned based on credible intelligence, leading to the successful arrests and recoveries.
Further interrogation revealed that Resham Singh was responsible for picking up the arms near the border, while Sumit would disguise the deliveries under the guise of his car sale and purchase business. The arrested individuals are now under investigation to uncover the full extent of their activities and connections in this smuggling operation.
