Hollywood actress Amy Madigan, known for her role in ‘Weapons’, will be appearing alongside Chris Cooper in the upcoming Western movie ‘I Passed This Way’. Directed by John Sayles, the film is set to start production in late 2026. The story, set in 1898, follows cowboy Ross McEwen as he flees across the New Mexico Territory after a bank robbery.
Madigan’s casting in ‘I Passed This Way’ follows her acclaimed performance in the horror film ‘Weapons’, where she played Aunt Gladys. The movie, featuring Julia Garner and Josh Brolin, revolves around a group of strangers connected by a mysterious event. Madigan’s portrayal of Aunt Gladys was well-received, leading to plans for an origin film for her character.
Director Sayles, a fan of Westerns, was drawn to the moral complexities of the genre. ‘I Passed This Way’ is based on Eugene Manlove Rhodes’ novella and will be filmed in the Canary Islands and Almería, Spain. Sayles, inspired by the book during a challenging political climate, aims to explore themes of justice and tough decisions in the movie.
