Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu hailed the recent validation flight at Bhogapuram Greenfield International Airport as a significant achievement for the state’s aviation sector. The Chief Minister expressed his joy for the people of Andhra Pradesh, particularly Uttarandhra, on this milestone, emphasizing the enhanced regional connectivity and economic prospects for the region. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support and dedication to the state’s progress.
The Bhogapuram Greenfield International Airport, conceived during the NDA government’s tenure from 2014 to 2019, is set to commence commercial flight operations by June. This development is expected to elevate Uttarandhra’s status and contribute to its growth trajectory. Minister for Human Resources Development and Information Technology also lauded the event as a pivotal moment for Andhra Pradesh, highlighting the airport’s role in fostering connectivity and propelling Uttarandhra’s development.
The inaugural commercial validation flight successfully landed at Bhogapuram Airport in Vizianagaram district, with an Air India flight from New Delhi marking the occasion. Notable officials, including Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu and Vizianagaram MP Kalisetti Appala Naidu, were present on the test flight, which utilized the airport’s state-of-the-art 3.8 km-long runway. The airport, constructed by GMR Group under a Public Private Partnership model, is on track for inauguration in June 2026, with 96% of the project already completed.
Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu expressed his satisfaction with the successful landing, underscoring the airport’s transformative potential for the region. He shared his optimism for the future of Bhogapuram Airport, which is poised to play a crucial role in Uttarandhra’s development. The airport’s inauguration, expected to be officiated by Prime Minister Modi in the coming months, signifies a significant step towards bolstering regional connectivity and economic growth in Andhra Pradesh.
