Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met with Bharti Enterprises founder and chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal to talk about boosting the state’s digital infrastructure and improving connectivity. Mittal visited the Chief Minister at his official residence in Amaravati. They discussed plans to enhance last-mile internet and mobile tower connectivity, invest in data centers, set up an undersea internet cable landing station, and streamline business operations for mobile service providers in the state.
Airtel Nxtra, a data center subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, is involved in the Google AI Data Centre project in Visakhapatnam, which is set to receive a $15 billion investment. The data center will operate on clean energy and a robust subsea network, covering an expansive area of nearly 600 acres with a total capacity of 1 Gigawatt. The foundation stone for this project was laid in April, with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw participating in the ceremony.
Chandrababu Naidu had earlier pushed for the timely completion of the Google Cloud India AI Hub project, involving Google, AdaniConneX, and Airtel Nxtra, by September 2028. He emphasized leveraging the Google AI Data Centre to enhance the government’s “Speed of Governance” initiative, aimed at delivering efficient services to the people.
