Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu conducted an aerial survey of the ONGC well in Irusumanda village, where a blowout has been ongoing for five days. Following the survey, he held a review meeting with ONGC officials, the District Collector, and local representatives to discuss the situation.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister inquired about the efforts to control the blowout and instructed officials to ensure compensation for the damage caused to coconut trees by the flames. ONGC reported that they are actively working to subdue and cap the well, Mori 5, in accordance with the approved blowout control plan.
The Crisis Management Team has made progress in clearing debris from the wellsite, allowing access to the wellhead area for further operations. ONGC stated that necessary equipment and materials have been mobilized to expedite the capping process, with a continuous water blanket maintained for safety during operations.
Residents in the surrounding areas have resumed their normal activities as the situation has stabilized. ONGC emphasized their commitment to following Standard Operating Procedures and ensuring the safety of the community and the environment throughout the operation.
