Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie recently shared insights on her ongoing humanitarian efforts in Cambodia. Reflecting on over 20 years of community-driven projects, she highlighted initiatives ranging from landmine clearance to forest conservation, sustainable livelihoods, education, and healthcare, all managed by local individuals. Jolie posted photos and videos from her recent visit to Cambodia.
During her visit, Jolie discussed the progress of the @maddoxfoundation, a locally managed organization established in 2003. Initially focused on landmine removal to restore safe living conditions for locals, the foundation has evolved to address broader environmental and social issues.
The @maddoxfoundation now employs local rangers to safeguard the Samlaut forest from illegal logging and poaching activities. Additionally, women in the community are engaged in sustainable beekeeping programs to support their families. The foundation also operates a dormitory where students from remote villages can complete their high school education, along with a health center catering to maternal and child health needs.
Recognized for her philanthropic work, Angelina Jolie has received prestigious awards such as an Academy Award, a Tony Award, and three Golden Globe Awards. Apart from her entertainment career, she is renowned for her advocacy in areas like conservation, education, and women’s rights, as well as her role as a Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
