Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway sought inspiration from Grammy winner Taylor Swift for her upcoming film “Mother Mary,” directed by David Lowery. In the movie, Hathaway plays a pop star engaged in a “psychosexual affair” with a fashion designer portrayed by Michaela Coel. The director praised Swift’s “Reputation” concert film, stating that they extensively studied it for the concert scenes in their movie.
Lowery revealed that they analyzed three songs from Swift’s “Reputation” album shot by shot to understand the visual effects and budgeting for their own concert sequences. He mentioned attending a Swift concert with Hathaway, where she gifted him a friendship bracelet inspired by the singer. Hathaway also incorporated elements of Taylor Swift’s persona into her character portrayal in the film.
Anne Hathaway expressed the challenges she faced during filming, particularly due to incomplete music compositions. She emphasized the need to embrace being a beginner and the humility required to navigate the creative process without complete knowledge beforehand. Despite the difficulties, she acknowledged the transformative nature of the experience and the gratitude she felt for relinquishing control over the music aspect of the film.
