In a preventive policing operation, the Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of East District arrested an active member of the notorious ‘Chenu Gang’ and seized a country-made pistol with two live cartridges. The arrest followed surveillance and intelligence-based efforts to thwart a potential crime.
The accused was caught in the act of suspected robbery, prompting the police to take swift action based on real-time intelligence. The timely intervention not only led to the recovery of the illegal firearm but also prevented a threat to public safety.
To combat rising criminal activities, AATS/East District has been instructed to enhance surveillance and crack down on illegal arms possession and organized crime. A dedicated team, led by Inspector Pawan Yadav and supervised by ACP (Operations) Pawan Kumar, played a crucial role in the successful operation.
Based on credible information, the team swiftly apprehended the suspect linked to the ‘Chenu Gang’ and recovered the firearm. The accused, a known associate of a robber named Shezad, confessed to planning a robbery at gunpoint. A case under the Arms Act has been registered, and investigations are ongoing to dismantle the illegal arms supply network.
Police efforts are focused on tracing the source of the illegal firearm and disrupting the supply chain. This arrest underscores the commitment of East District Police to proactive policing and ensuring public safety.
