The Anti-Narcotics Squad of South District Police made a significant breakthrough in Sangam Vihar by capturing a bootlegger and confiscating a large quantity of illicit liquor from his possession and residence. The operation resulted in the recovery of 16 cartons of liquor, including country liquor, whisky, and beer intended for sale exclusively in Haryana.
A case was filed under the Delhi Excise Act following the seizure. The operation, led by Inspector Mahender Dahiya, involved a team of officers including Head Constable Manish, Head Constable Jaldhari, Head Constable Mukesh, Head Constable Jaiveer, and Constable Lokesh, under the supervision of ACP/Operations, South District, Rituraj.
Acting on specific intelligence, the Anti-Narcotics Squad apprehended the accused, Ajay, outside his residence in possession of illicit liquor. A subsequent search of his house uncovered a substantial amount of illegal liquor, leading to his arrest and seizure of the entire consignment. Investigations are ongoing to determine the liquor’s source and other individuals involved in the distribution network.
During questioning, it was disclosed that Ajay had stored Haryana-mark liquor at his residence and was unlawfully supplying it in Delhi for profit, contravening the Delhi Excise Act. Ajay, 42, a resident of F-2nd Block, Sangam Vihar, was previously implicated in a similar case under the Delhi Excise Act.
The recovered liquor, including Masaledar Desi Sharab and whisky marked “For Sale in Haryana Only,” along with beer, amounted to 16 cartons of illicit liquor. This intelligence-driven operation has dealt a significant blow to the illicit liquor trade in the area, with efforts ongoing to dismantle the supply chain and identify other culprits involved in the illegal trade.
