US tech giant Apple revealed that by 2025, a significant 30% of the materials in all its products were sourced from recycled content. The company has made strides by eliminating plastic from packaging and incorporating 100% recycled cobalt in its batteries. Additionally, Apple now utilizes 100% recycled rare earth elements in all magnets, while its products are packaged in easily recyclable fiber-based materials.
Apple’s commitment to environmental sustainability is evident as its greenhouse gas emissions in 2025 decreased by over 60% compared to 2015 levels, maintaining this progress from the previous year despite substantial business growth. The company emphasized advancements in renewable energy, materials innovation, recycling, water conservation, and waste reduction. Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, expressed the company’s dedication to improving the world and highlighted how ambitious goals can drive innovation.
The tech giant further detailed that its printed circuit boards are crafted with 100% recycled gold plating and tin soldering, leading to the avoidance of more than 15,000 metric tons of plastic over the last five years. Apple’s engineers and designers have also introduced sustainable alternatives to traditional packaging components, such as replacing plastic screen protectors and trays with recycled or responsibly sourced paper versions.
In 2025, Apple significantly ramped up iPhone production in India by approximately 53%, with around 55 million units assembled compared to 36 million the previous year. Reports suggest that a quarter of Apple’s flagship products are now manufactured in India to circumvent tariffs imposed on Chinese imports. The company’s annual global iPhone production, totaling around 220–230 million units, has seen a notable increase in India due to government-backed production incentives that help mitigate cost challenges compared to China.
