An Army soldier, injured in a gunfight with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, passed away due to critical injuries. The operation, named ‘TRASHI-I,’ saw eight soldiers injured during the initial firing exchanges with the terrorists. The soldier, Havildar Gajendra Singh of the Special Forces, was honored for his sacrifice during the counter-terrorism mission in the Singpura area.

The anti-terror operation in the Chatroo area resumed on Monday morning following the initial clashes. During the encounter, where terrorists buried grenades and fired at the joint forces, eight soldiers sustained injuries. Three of the injured soldiers were airlifted for treatment, while the remaining five received medical care locally.

After a nightlong halt, the joint forces resumed their search operation to locate terrorists believed to be hiding in the upper reaches. The operation, which faced challenges due to the terrain’s thick vegetation and steep slopes, involved multiple teams from the Army, police, and paramilitary forces supported by drones and sniffer dogs.

The joint forces, including the Army, police, and paramilitary units, are conducting a thorough search operation in the area to prevent the terrorists from escaping. The operation, which began with the first light of the day, has not had any fresh contact with the terrorists as of noon.
