Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi to push for accelerated development of border infrastructure in the state. Khandu highlighted the need for continued support in strengthening critical infrastructure in the border areas. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the progress made in infrastructure development, emphasizing its positive impact on security and local livelihoods.
Khandu and Singh discussed connectivity requirements in Arunachal Pradesh, focusing on the strategic Akajan–Likabali–Bame corridor, which includes a crucial bridge over the Taro Tamak river. This road plays a vital role in connecting Assam’s plains with remote border districts in Arunachal Pradesh, enhancing accessibility and regional development. Notably, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is overseeing most parts of this significant road project.
The Defence Minister assured Khandu that all proposed projects in Arunachal Pradesh would be given due consideration and priority. Khandu praised Rajnath Singh for his consistent backing of border infrastructure development in the state, acknowledging the positive impact on the region’s progress. Through an official statement, Khandu expressed his gratitude for the Defence Minister’s unwavering support towards advancing infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh.
Arunachal Pradesh shares borders with China, Myanmar, and Bhutan, totaling 1,080 km, 520 km, and 217 km, respectively. The state’s strategic location necessitates continuous efforts to enhance border infrastructure and connectivity for security and regional development.
