Aryan Roopa Anand, the recent winner of his first professional title at the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) Tour in Congo, showcased a strong start in the $500,000 IGPL Bharath Classic. The talented golfer from Mysuru, known for his amateur successes, shot a 4-under 68, trailing the leader by three strokes.
During the opening round, Aryan played alongside Gunn Charoenkul and Jose Toledo, recovering from an initial bogey to birdie three consecutive holes. By the ninth hole, he was 2-under, adding more birdies on the 14th and 18th to finish at 68, sharing the 7th spot.
At the Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort in Morocco, where the tournament is held, the challenging course saw half the field still in action. Karandeep Kochhar, with an impressive performance, scored five birdies in just nine holes, including a streak of four birdies in a row.
Shaurya Bhattacharya, another Indian golfer, made a strong start in the tournament, reaching 4-under with four birdies. However, late bogeys pushed him back, finishing at 2-under and tied for 16th place. Notable performances also came from Australian Will Florimo, Australians Jed Morgan and New Zealander Nick Voke, all tied for third place at 67.
Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond, Bangladeshi Siddikur Rehman, and South African Justin Harding finished their rounds at 2-under 70. Tanapat Pichaikool, the winner of the previous week’s IGPL Morocco Rising Stars 2026, shot an even par 72.
