Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot criticized the BJP government in Rajasthan for suspending the construction of a guest house at the Rajasthan International Centre (RIC) in Jaipur. Gehlot, in his digital series “Intezaar Shastra”, questioned the decision to halt the project initiated during the previous Congress government. He raised concerns over the government’s use of public funds on expensive hotels instead of completing the guest house at RIC.
Gehlot highlighted the significance of RIC, where PM Modi and French President Macron had participated in an event and praised the initiative. He expressed disappointment over the suspension of works at RIC and accused the government of engaging in negative politics. The project, aimed at hosting cultural events, exhibitions, and seminars, was inaugurated in 2023 after being stalled and later revived by the Congress government.
The video shared by Gehlot emphasized the foundation stone laying of RIC in 2013 with an allocated budget of Rs 130 crore. It detailed the history of the project, which faced interruptions when the BJP government came to power in 2014. The guest house project, with a proposed cost of ₹40 crore, remains incomplete as funds were reportedly stopped by the current BJP administration. Gehlot’s “Intezaar Shastra” series focuses on stalled projects initiated during the Congress government.
