Asian Championship gold medalist Neeru Dhanda clinched the women’s trap gold at the 68th National Shooting Championship Competitions (Shotgun) held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi. Neeru secured the top spot with 41 hits in the final, fending off a tough challenge from Kirti Gupta of Delhi, who settled for silver with 40 hits. Pragati Dubey from Madhya Pradesh claimed the bronze medal with 32 hits.
Earlier in the qualification round, Pragati led the field with 117 hits, followed by Neeru with 114 and Rajeshwari Kumari with 113. Addya Katyal qualified fourth with 112 hits, while Preeti Rajak and Kirti Gupta rounded off the top six positions based on shoot-out scores.
In the finals, Addya Katyal finished fourth with 27 hits, followed by Preeti Rajak with 21 hits and Punjab’s Olympian Rajeshwari Kumari in sixth place with 17 hits. The junior men’s trap final saw Aryavansh Tyagi clinch the gold medal with 42 hits, followed by Keshav Chauhan of Punjab with silver (37 hits) and Zuhair Khan of Uttar Pradesh with bronze (30 hits).
Zuhair Khan had dominated the qualification round with a score of 120, ahead of Aryan Singh with 118 hits. Aryavansh Tyagi and Arjun both scored 115 hits, with Aryavansh advancing on a shoot-off. Keshav Chauhan and Manitwa Singh Rawat completed the list of finalists. In team events, Madhya Pradesh secured the women’s trap team gold, while Haryana claimed the junior men’s trap team gold.
