Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed a Rs 17,235 crore infrastructure expansion plan aimed at enhancing road connectivity in the state for long-term economic growth. The plan includes projects like four-laning the Baihata Chariali-Mission Chariali highway, constructing the Guwahati Airport-Jalukbari Elevated Corridor, and a new bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Morigaon and Darrang districts.
Sarma emphasized that this investment would lead to a significant improvement in connectivity by upgrading key road corridors and creating new transport links across Assam. The proposed projects are expected to reduce travel time, ease traffic congestion, and enhance the movement of people and goods within the state, benefiting commercial and urban centers.
The infrastructure program is part of the government’s vision to revamp Assam’s transport infrastructure, attracting investments, boosting trade, and supporting overall economic development. The projects aim to provide smoother access to important areas, offer alternative routes for commuters and freight transport, and strengthen connectivity between different regions of the state.
