Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma participated in the 11th Governing Council session of NITI Aayog, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reaffirming the state’s dedication to contributing to the vision of a developed India. Following the meeting, the Chief Minister shared on social media that PM Modi stressed the importance of enhanced state coordination, optimal use of India’s demographic dividend, increased opportunities for youth, women-focused governance initiatives, and leveraging the benefits of India’s expanding global trade engagements.
Sarma highlighted that PM Modi underscored the necessity for states and the Centre to collaborate closely to expedite the nation’s growth trajectory and ensure equitable development benefits for all segments of society. The discussions at the Governing Council meeting centered on critical developmental priorities and strategies aimed at sustaining India’s rapid economic progress and boosting the country’s global competitiveness.
During his reflections, Sarma emphasized India’s current pivotal position in its development journey, maintaining its status as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies. He pointed out that India continues to draw investments, innovation, and talent globally, showcasing rising international confidence in the nation’s economic prospects. The Chief Minister reiterated that cooperative federalism is crucial in realizing the ambitious goal of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047, expressing confidence in “Team India” under PM Modi’s leadership to collectively foster a stronger, more prosperous, and inclusive nation.
The NITI Aayog Governing Council, comprising Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors, and senior policymakers, serves as the apex body of the institution, convening to discuss critical national issues and outline India’s long-term development roadmap.
