Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship in youth empowerment and economic growth in the state. At an event in Dibrugarh, he distributed seed capital to over 10,000 beneficiaries from various districts.
Sarma highlighted the government’s focus on creating a new generation of entrepreneurs alongside offering traditional government jobs. The Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan 2.0 aims to support over 74,000 prospective entrepreneurs with a total outlay of Rs 1,482 crore.
Under this initiative, beneficiaries will receive financial support without collateral, with different categories eligible for varying amounts. The program also includes facilitating bank linkages for beneficiaries to access additional financial support and loans for business development.
Sarma commended the increasing entrepreneurial ecosystem in Assam, citing a significant rise in MSME registrations and substantial loans extended to small entrepreneurs. He encouraged local youth to capitalize on these opportunities for self-reliance and economic advancement.
