Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma introduced three new welfare programs to enhance financial aid for students and empower youth in the state, especially those pursuing higher education. The schemes aim to ensure that deserving students can continue their studies without financial obstacles.
One of the initiatives, the Nijut Babu Scheme, provides monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000 for undergraduate students and Rs 2,000 for postgraduate students from families with an annual income below Rs 4 lakh. This support is intended to alleviate the financial burden of higher education for students across Assam.
In addition to the Nijut Moina Scheme that aids girl students at the school level, the government has introduced the Mukhyamantri Jibon Prerona Scheme. This initiative offers financial aid to graduates, especially young women, as they prepare for competitive exams or pursue further professional education after completing their degree courses.
The Mukhyamantri Jibon Prerona Scheme aims to assist students during the critical phase post-graduation when many face financial challenges, particularly women, hindering their career aspirations. By providing economic support, the scheme enables students to focus on skill-building and exam preparation without financial stress.
The Chief Minister emphasized that these three schemes underscore the government’s comprehensive approach to education, women’s empowerment, and youth development. He highlighted that investing in students is crucial for fostering a skilled and self-sufficient Assam.
