Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi emphasized the need for the newly elected BJP-led government in Assam to focus on public welfare and address women’s safety concerns. Speaking in Guwahati, Gogoi stressed the importance of fulfilling the promises made to the people during the election campaign. He highlighted the issue of women’s security, despite significant support from female voters for the BJP.
Gogoi called on the Assam Police to prioritize maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens over any political affiliations. He expressed hope that the police force would concentrate on safeguarding women and the public. Gogoi’s statements came ahead of the oath-taking ceremony of Chief Minister-designate Himanta Biswa Sarma, scheduled to take place in the presence of top NDA leaders.
Sarma, outlining the government’s immediate agenda, stated that the focus would be on implementing the BJP’s election manifesto commitments. He announced plans for the first Cabinet meeting to follow soon after the swearing-in ceremony, with a primary goal of fulfilling the manifesto promises. Notable leaders, including PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, are expected to attend the event in Guwahati.
