The regional party Raijor Dal in Assam, led by Akhil Gogoi, is gearing up for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections with the formulation of its manifesto. The draft manifesto has been finalized during an extended executive committee meeting and is set to be unveiled to the public by January 15. Emphasizing a people-centric approach, the party aims to shape Assam’s future through this comprehensive document.
Akhil Gogoi highlighted that the manifesto, post consultations, will focus on reshaping Assam by reflecting the aspirations of its citizens. The party’s leaders mentioned that the draft will undergo meticulous discussions with experts from various domains before its official release. Raijor Dal envisions the manifesto as a detailed roadmap for governance and development in Assam, catering to the needs of farmers, laborers, and the general populace.
Raijor Dal’s vision for Assam includes building a “New Assam” by fostering unity among indigenous communities and lawful Indian residents. With agriculture as a central theme, the party plans to transform Assam into a multi-crop state to support year-round farming. Additionally, the party aims to empower local communities in accessing and competing in local, inter-state, and international markets.
The draft manifesto also outlines strategies for industrial growth, promising the establishment of industries in villages and urban areas to boost employment opportunities and eradicate unemployment in Assam. Prioritizing tourism development, Raijor Dal intends to position Assam as a prominent tourism destination in India. The party’s model for a “New Assam” is built on five key pillars, including indigenous leadership, agricultural reforms, enhanced trade mechanisms, revamped industrial policies, and the transformation of Assam into a premier tourism hub.
