Ollie Watkins scored the winning goal for Aston Villa against Lille, giving them a one-goal advantage in the UEFA Europa League round of 16. This victory marked Villa’s first-ever win in France after seven attempts, with Emi Martínez’s crucial saves ensuring a clean sheet.

In another match, Porto secured a narrow lead over Stuttgart with two quick first-half goals. Despite a strong effort from the hosts, Deniz Undav’s goal reduced the deficit for Stuttgart just before halftime. Meanwhile, Midtjylland defeated Nottingham Forest with a late goal from Guesung Cho, earning them a first-leg lead.

Unai Emery celebrated his 100th win as Aston Villa’s manager, making him the fastest to reach this milestone. Porto and Midtjylland will also carry one-goal advantages into the second leg matches next week, setting the stage for exciting returns.
