Head coach Edin Terzic of Athletic Bilbao has disclosed that he keeps regular contact with the club’s three World Cup-winning stars as they gear up for the upcoming La Liga season. Terzic, who took over from Ernesto Valverde this summer, has seen Athletic Bilbao make a strong start to pre-season, winning their initial three warm-up matches against lower-division teams. Despite the absence of Spain internationals Nico Williams, Aymeric Laporte, and Unai Simón, who played pivotal roles in Spain’s World Cup victory, Terzic is not rushing their return.
“We hope that in the future we can have more champions. For us as a coaching staff and for the club, it is very important. We’re very proud that these players are part of our group and our dressing room,” Terzic stated. He emphasized the significance of maintaining communication with all the club’s players who participated in the World Cup, including Inaki Williams, the Ghana captain, and Athletic skipper.
Terzic also addressed rumors linking Laporte to Barcelona, clarifying that the Spain defender rejoined Athletic last season, where he started his professional career. Barcelona has also been associated with Nico Williams in recent summers, but Terzic downplayed such speculations.
