Australia has included uncapped players Rachel Trenaman and Maitlan Brown in their squad for the upcoming one-off Test against India at the WACA Ground in Perth on March 6. Trenaman and Brown have been called up to provide depth to the team due to injuries to players like Garth, Ellyse Perry, and Sophie Molineux.
Rachel Trenaman, who is set to cover for Perry, will be playing as a batter if she recovers from her quad issue in time for the match. Meanwhile, Kim Garth has been ruled out due to her own injury problem. Maitlan Brown, a 28-year-old fast bowler, returns to the Australian squad after a strong domestic season with 16 wickets in 10 matches for New South Wales.
Both Brown and Trenaman previously played for Australia A in a red-ball four-day game against India A last August. With skipper Sophie Molineux also sidelined due to a back concern, Alyssa Healy will lead the team in what will be her final international appearance before retirement. Healy’s remarkable performance in the recent ODI against India, where she scored 158 runs, has been crucial for Australia.
