Pallister set the tone by winning the Women’s 400m Freestyle Final, marking Australia’s first gold at Glasgow 2026. She mentioned the excitement of continuing her family legacy, following in the footsteps of her mother and godmother who were Commonwealth champions.
Forrester added to Australia’s medal tally by winning the Women’s 200m Backstroke gold, surpassing her compatriot Hannah Fredericks. Meanwhile, South Africa’s Nathan Hendricks caused an upset by winning the Para Swimming Men’s 100m Freestyle S13 Final, beating the home favorite.
Scotland’s Duncan Scott delighted the local fans by securing the host country’s first gold at Glasgow 2026 in the men’s 200m Individual Medley. His dominant performance, setting a Games record, was met with cheers from the crowd.
