Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri highlighted the positive people-to-people relationship between India and Australia during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. Discussions with Australian leaders acknowledged concerns over changes to student visa assessments and processing delays. Misri clarified that Australia assured no restrictions on new student visa applications, aiming to maintain opportunities for genuine Indian students.

Australia’s commitment to Indian students was emphasized during PM Modi’s engagements in Melbourne. Misri reassured that despite some rigorous processes, educational opportunities for Indian students in Australia would remain open and fair. He expressed confidence in Australia’s continued welcome for Indian aspirants seeking education opportunities in the country.

Australian PM Anthony Albanese praised the significant contributions of the Indian community to Australia’s growth. He highlighted their support for key industries, small businesses, and the education sector. Albanese specifically mentioned the positive impact of Indian students on Australia’s education system, particularly in Victoria, emphasizing their role in enhancing skills and boosting various sectors.
