In Motihari district, Bihar, Ramsakhi Devi and Lalababu Rai found hope through the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Both seniors, suffering from cataracts, received free treatment under this government scheme, restoring their eyesight and enabling them to lead normal lives. Launched in 2018, the Ayushman Bharat Yojana is the world’s largest public healthcare initiative, providing Rs 5 lakh healthcare insurance annually to eligible families.
Neetu Devi, a beneficiary in Motihari, shared her gratitude for the scheme, which allowed her mother-in-law to undergo cataract surgery free of cost. She praised the government for its support during tough times. Lalababu Rai also benefited from the scheme, expressing his thanks for the free eye surgery that brought light back into his life. Shivam Kumar, another beneficiary, appreciated the government’s assistance in his father’s treatment.
Dr. A.B. Singh, a medical professional involved in the scheme, highlighted the positive impact, noting that previously, financial constraints prevented many from seeking treatment, often resulting in blindness. With the Ayushman card, patients now receive free treatment, eliminating barriers to healthcare access and improving outcomes.
