The Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, Sohan Singh Rangad, revealed that the temple’s treasurer has been transferred due to suspected irregularities in donation management. Rangad clarified that the treasurer was not removed but reassigned. An investigation highlighted discrepancies in the recorded amount of silver materials stored at the temple, leading to the treasurer’s transfer.
Rangad explained that the discrepancy arose from finding more materials than recorded in the register, hinting at a possible error in data entry due to the larger quantity. He emphasized that the treasurer’s transfer was a precautionary step considering the sensitivity of the situation. Addressing allegations of missing laptops and an ambulance donated to the temple, Rangad confirmed that the items were appropriately utilized and distributed among employees.
Following an inquiry into donation misappropriation at Shri Badrinath Dham, the temple committee took disciplinary action by suspending a staff member involved. The inquiry team’s report revealed instances of theft of offerings and valuables from devotees occurring multiple times. The committee’s efforts aim to ensure transparency and uphold administrative discipline within the temple premises.
