Tara Chand, President of Baloch American Congress, criticized Pakistan’s Punjab province Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for developing the region at the expense of Balochistan’s people. Chand accused Sharif of boasting about projects like the Green Line and Orange Line in Punjab, which he claimed were achieved through the suffering of Baloch lives. He highlighted the historical exploitation of Balochistan’s natural resources, including gas, minerals, gold, land, coastline, and marine resources, to benefit Punjab while neglecting Balochistan’s development.
Chand emphasized the stark contrast between the prosperity of Punjab and the deprivation in Balochistan, where basic necessities like food, water, education, electricity, and healthcare are lacking. He attributed the dire conditions in Balochistan to systematic exploitation by Pakistani authorities and vowed that the Baloch nation would continue its struggle against injustice. Chand criticized the Punjab government for allegedly financing its development through the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor, which he claimed further marginalized and impoverished Balochistan.
Expressing concern over the devastation in Balochistan, Chand accused the Punjabi-dominated Pakistani state of committing genocide against the Baloch nation for the sake of exploiting its resources. He condemned the government for prioritizing Punjab’s prosperity over the well-being of Balochistan and vowed that the Baloch people would not forgive those responsible for their suffering. Chand also recalled instances of opposition leaders showing insincere support for forcibly disappeared Baloch individuals in the past.
