The Baloch National Movement (BNM) organized a peaceful protest in Busan, South Korea, to shed light on the ongoing human rights violations in Balochistan. The demonstration, part of the BNM Global Campaign, took place near Sasang Station on April 5, gathering Baloch community members, supporters, and activists. The protest aimed to raise awareness internationally about the plight of the Baloch people, with participants distributing informative pamphlets to passers-by.

BNM member Bakhtawar Baloch addressed the attendees in Korean, explaining the dire situation in Balochistan and calling for global solidarity against the atrocities committed by Pakistani forces. Strong slogans demanding freedom for Balochistan and condemning the Pakistani army’s brutality resonated throughout the protest. The participants emphasized the need to end enforced disappearances, release missing persons, seek justice for victims, and strive for freedom from occupation and repression.

The protest maintained a disciplined and peaceful atmosphere in a busy public area, attracting attention from locals and contributing to the global outreach of the BNM Global Campaign. Participants expressed solidarity with similar events worldwide, including advocacy sessions at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, where human rights violations by Pakistani authorities were exposed. The demonstrations in Busan reaffirmed the BNM’s dedication to peacefully exposing Pakistan’s atrocities and advocating for the fundamental rights and self-determination of the Baloch people.

Last month, during the 61st session of the UNHRC in Geneva, the BNM accused Pakistani authorities of grave human rights abuses in Balochistan. Naseem Baloch, chairman of the BNM, highlighted that despite Pakistan’s special trade status under the GSP+ scheme, the country fails to adhere to international human rights, labor rights, and democratic governance standards. He underscored the systematic human rights violations faced by the people of Balochistan, including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detention, torture, and suppression of political dissent.
