Bangladesh has appointed Towhid Hridoy as the captain for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. This decision comes after regular skipper Litton Das, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud were unavailable due to their commitments in the Lanka Premier League. Hridoy previously led the team in a T20I series against Australia last month.
Four key players have been granted No Objection Certificates to participate in the Lanka Premier League, which coincides with the T20I series in Zimbabwe. Changes have been made to the Bangladesh squad that faced Australia, with Mohammad Saifuddin, Yasir Ali, and Mosaddek Hossain returning while Shamim Hossain has been omitted.
The T20I series against Zimbabwe is set to commence on July 15, with matches scheduled for July 17 and July 19 at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. Prior to the T20Is, Bangladesh will engage in a three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe starting from July 6. The tour began on a disappointing note for Bangladesh with a loss in the one-off Test in Harare.
