Bangladesh’s cricket team excelled in the recent ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier, securing a spot in this year’s tournament. They emerged victorious in all seven matches played during the event in Nepal. Key players like Sobhana Mostary, Nigar Sultana Joty, and Dilara Akter showcased impressive performances, with Sultana Joty climbing to 19th place in the T20I batters’ rankings after scoring 154 runs.
Bangladesh’s success was also highlighted by the rise of Mostary to 36th place and Akter to 65th place in the T20I player rankings. Additionally, Nahida Akter, a left-arm spinner, climbed to 28th place in the bowling rankings after taking eight wickets at the Qualifier. Ireland’s Arlene Kelly and Orla Prendergast, as well as Scotland’s Katherine Fraser, also made significant progress in the T20I bowlers’ rankings due to their outstanding performances at the tournament.
Katherine Fraser, the young all-rounder from Scotland, impressed with 184 runs and eight wickets, leading her team to secure a spot in the T20 World Cup. Fraser’s remarkable display elevated her to 37th place in the T20I bowlers’ rankings and tied her at 22nd place in the all-rounders’ rankings. Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands have secured spots in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be held in England in June-July, following their victories at the qualifying tournament.
