Bangladesh’s Nahid Rana, Oman’s Jatinder Singh, and UAE’s Ajay Kumar have been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for April. Rana earned his spot on the shortlist after a stellar performance in three ODIs against New Zealand. Jatinder Singh’s impressive displays in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 in Nepal also secured his nomination.
Rana, the 23-year-old pace sensation, claimed eight wickets with an economy rate of 4.46 during the series against New Zealand. He was named the Player of the Series as Bangladesh triumphed 2-1 in the home ODI series. Notably, Rana’s standout moment was his five-wicket haul in the second match in Mirpur.
On the other hand, Oman’s skipper Jatinder amassed 266 runs across five ODIs with an average of 53.20 and a strike rate exceeding 115 in Oman’s Cricket World Cup League 2 campaign. His remarkable performance included a 139-run knock off 91 balls against Nepal, the highest ODI score by an Oman batter.
Completing the shortlist is UAE’s emerging bowling talent, Ajay Kumar, who took nine wickets with an economy rate of 3.66. Kumar’s standout performances include figures of three for 34 against Nepal and six for 35 against Oman in his first two ODIs in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2.
The nominees are selected based on their performances throughout each calendar month and are then voted on by the independent ICC Voting Academy and fans globally.
