Bangladesh T20I captain Towhid Hridoy has been added to the Jaffna Kings squad in place of Taskin Ahmed for the ongoing Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026, as confirmed by the tournament’s Players’ Management Committee. Taskin’s absence due to unavailability opened the door for Hridoy’s inclusion.
Anil Mohan Sankhdhar, Founder and CEO of IPG Group, the official rights holder of the Lanka Premier League, expressed delight in welcoming Towhid Hridoy to the tournament. He praised Hridoy’s cricketing prowess and leadership qualities, highlighting his potential to enhance the competition and engage fans.
Known for his impressive T20 record, Hridoy brings valuable experience to the Jaffna Kings, having scored 4,057 runs in 168 matches at an average of 30.73, including two centuries. His recent performances as Bangladesh’s T20I captain have further solidified his reputation as a skilled batsman and leader on the field.
Jaffna Kings, who have had a mixed start in the LPL 2026 with one win and one loss, are counting on Hridoy to bolster their batting lineup. As they prepare to face Colombo KAPS in Dambulla, the franchise aims to build momentum in the competition.
