BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia expressed optimism that the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women’s team will continue their winning streak from the ODI World Cup into the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup in England. The team has undergone thorough preparation, playing three T20I matches before the tournament, followed by two warm-up matches, ensuring full acclimatization to English conditions.
Saikia emphasized the team’s positive mindset and confidence following their previous World Cup victory. He highlighted the significance of maintaining a winning habit and expressed hope that the team, scheduled to travel on May 22, will bring pride to the country by securing another trophy. The Women’s Premier League was credited for expanding the talent pool, providing quality replacements and enhancing the team’s depth.
Regarding the men’s T20I team, Saikia commended the selectors for scouting new talents, acknowledging the influx of promising players like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. He noted the positive trend in Indian cricket with the emergence of talented individuals, indicating a promising future for the sport.
