The BCCI secretary, Devajit Saikia, commended the intense ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semifinal between India and England at Wankhede Stadium, highlighting the tension and unforgettable moments of the match. Saikia, expressing his excitement on X, formerly Twitter, mentioned the electrifying atmosphere at the iconic Mumbai venue that added to the spectacle as India secured their spot in the final. Saikia, along with other dignitaries, witnessed the thrilling encounter at Wankhede Stadium.

India secured a nail-biting seven-run victory over England in the semi-final at Wankhede Stadium, setting up a final showdown with New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Sanju Samson’s impressive performance led India to a total of 253/7, with the home team managing to fend off a strong challenge from England in a high-scoring match. The clash between the two teams resulted in a total of 499 runs, the highest in a men’s T20 World Cup game.

India, as defending champions, became the first team to reach the final and have now advanced to the T20 World Cup final for the fourth time, a record in the tournament’s history. The Men in Blue are on the verge of defending their T20 World Cup title and aiming to secure their second championship. In the upcoming final against New Zealand in Ahmedabad, India is eyeing several milestones, including becoming the first host team to win the T20 World Cup and the first team to win three T20 World Cup titles.
