The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given an update on Harmanpreet Kaur following an injury to her left knee while batting against Australia in the ODI series opener. Kaur, the Indian skipper, did not take the field in the second innings after the blow to her knee. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana assumed leadership in her absence.
Harmanpreet Kaur played a significant innings, scoring 53 runs off 84 deliveries before being dismissed. She sustained the knee injury while facing Megan Schutt but displayed resilience to continue batting. However, she did not return for the second innings, with Mandhana taking her place on the field.
Australia’s disciplined bowling kept India under pressure during the first innings. Despite choosing to bat first, India struggled against Australia’s bowling attack. The pitch conditions favored Australia, leading to India’s downfall as they managed to score only 214 runs before being bowled out.
