Kolkata, Aug 17 (IANS) As the first Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)‑led West Bengal government since Independence completes its first 100 days in power on Tuesday, the state BJP has decided to circulate copies of a book highlighting the new government’s work during this period.

From Tuesday morning, BJP workers will move door‑to‑door distributing copies of a 41‑page book.

The state unit of the party finalised detailed planning for the exercise at a training camp in New Town, on the northern outskirts of Kolkata, on Monday afternoon.

After coming to power in the state following the West Bengal assembly polls earlier this year, the Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari‑led government embarked on reforms in several areas.

The new government’s major challenge was to free the administration from the culture of corruption for which the previous Mamata Banerjee‑led Trinamool Congress had repeatedly made national headlines. Other challenges included driving industrialisation and ensuring an administration free of political interference.

The 41‑page book, titled West Bengal Government’s Resolution and 100 Days of Success, details investment progress during the interim period, the number of people who benefited from social welfare projects, initiatives adopted for administrative reforms, and projects on issues such as women’s safety and financial empowerment.

“A comparative analysis between the promises made in our election manifesto before the assembly polls and the initiatives taken by the new government in the first 100 days, along with the progress made, will be carried in the book,” said a state cabinet member.

He added that neither the government nor the state BJP unit will organise a celebration programme over the completion of the first 100 days.

“The celebration will be on the first anniversary of the new government when the people of West Bengal will be able to test the fruits of our administrative arrangements,” the cabinet member said.
