Bengali actor and former Trinamool Congress MP Mimi Chakraborty lodged a police complaint against the organizers of a cultural program in Bongaon, North 24 Parganas district. Chakraborty alleged facing public harassment during the event on Sunday night at Nayagram, Bongaon.
Chakraborty accused Tanmay Shastri, an office-bearer of Nayagopalganj Yubak Sangha Club, of disrupting her performance. She claimed that a man climbed onto the stage and asked her to stop singing, leading to a humiliating experience for her.
Expressing her displeasure on social media, Chakraborty condemned the incident as disrespectful towards artists. She narrated the incident where she was abruptly asked to leave the stage, prompting her to end her performance abruptly.
The event organizers, however, refuted the allegations, labeling them as unfounded. They stated that despite Chakraborty’s delayed arrival, she was accorded proper respect and assistance onto the stage. The organizers also criticized Chakraborty’s social media post for tarnishing their reputation and that of Bongaon.
Police officials confirmed receiving the complaint and are currently investigating the matter to ascertain the facts and resolve the issue.
