Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport) in Bengaluru has achieved a significant milestone by serving over 400 million passengers since its establishment. The airport, managed by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), witnessed robust growth in passenger traffic and cargo operations during the fiscal year 2025–26, as per the Chief Ministers’ Office (CMO).

During the 134th Board Meeting of BIAL, chaired by the Chief Secretary of the Government of Karnataka, it was highlighted that BLR Airport surpassed the 400 million passenger mark in April 2026. This achievement signifies a crucial step in the airport’s development and solidifies Bengaluru’s position as a key aviation, business, innovation, and cargo hub for South and Central India.

The Board commended the Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer, and the entire BIAL team for their outstanding performance amidst the global challenges faced by the aviation sector. It also praised the airport’s continuous focus on infrastructure enhancement, operational efficiency, passenger satisfaction, and adherence to international service standards.

According to BIAL reports, BLR Airport managed 44.47 million passengers and 532,000 metric tonnes of cargo during the fiscal year 2025–26, demonstrating sustained growth in both passenger and cargo segments. International passenger traffic saw a substantial increase of 23.9%, totaling 7.23 million passengers, while domestic traffic grew by 3.3% to 37.24 million passengers. Overall passenger traffic witnessed a 6.2% year-on-year rise.
