Beth Mooney praised Australia’s positive start in the powerplay and the support from Phoebe Litchfield and Georgia Voll after her match-winning performance secured Australia’s seventh Women’s T20 World Cup title with a seven-wicket win over England at Lord’s. Mooney, who was named Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament, scored 64 runs off 49 balls in the final, helping Australia chase down England’s target of 151 in 17.1 overs.

Reflecting on the victory, Mooney expressed gratitude for reaching the final, especially after missing out in the previous two ICC tournaments. She highlighted the team’s journey to the final and the importance of their achievement.

Mooney also acknowledged her contributions behind the stumps, including a crucial stumping during the match. She credited the coaching staff for their support in helping her improve her wicketkeeping skills throughout the tournament, emphasizing the teamwork and guidance she received.

Discussing her role in the field, Mooney mentioned that decisions about standing up to the stumps were made in consultation with the bowlers. She emphasized the collaborative effort between her and the bowling group in executing strategic plans during the game.

Mooney explained the batting strategy that led to Australia’s successful chase, with Voll providing a quick start and Litchfield’s aggressive innings ensuring they stayed ahead of the required run rate. Their partnership played a crucial role in Australia’s victory, with Mooney’s steady contribution guiding the team to lift the trophy for the seventh time.
