Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) lawmakers protested near the Telangana Assembly, urging the immediate release of fee reimbursement funds. Before the day’s legislative proceedings, BRS members gathered at Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial, Gun Park, displaying placards demanding the release of pending funds. The Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council, Madhusudhana Chary, criticized the government for allegedly delaying fee reimbursements, affecting students’ lives.
The legislators demanded the release of ₹12,000 crore in pending fee reimbursement arrears, emphasizing the government’s responsibility towards students from marginalized communities. Madhusudhana Chary accused the government of neglecting the welfare of students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Backward Classes. He highlighted the importance of timely fee reimbursement to ensure equal educational opportunities for all students.
Despite attempts to bring attention to the issue through adjournment motions, the BRS legislators were denied a discussion on fee reimbursement in both Houses. The legislators’ protest coincided with increased security around the Assembly building due to the BJP’s planned demonstration over various governmental issues. The BJP’s protest focused on the government’s alleged failure to fulfill promises and concerns related to the Musi Riverfront development project.
