Bhopal police captured the main suspect, Asif alias Bam, in the Vijay Mewada murder case following a shootout in Ratibad. Asif sustained a leg injury during the encounter and was promptly taken to Hamidia Hospital for medical attention.
Authorities had received specific intelligence pinpointing Asif’s location in the Samaspur/Kerwa forest area near Ratibad. While being escorted to the police station post-arrest, Asif unexpectedly brandished a pistol and fired at the officers in the Ratibad vicinity around noon.
The police, acting in self-defense, shot Asif in the leg. A reward of Rs 30,000 had been announced for information leading to his apprehension. The fatal incident occurred near Pragati Nagar two days prior, where Mewada was involved in a minor altercation with Asif and his accomplices near Prabhat Petrol Pump.
