Teams from Andhra Pradesh, Mizoram, Goa, Delhi, and Karnataka emerged victorious in their matches on the first day of the 16th Hockey India Sub-Junior Men’s National Championship 2026 at Rajgir Hockey Stadium in Bihar. In the opening match, Hockey Andhra Pradesh defeated Assam Hockey 3-1 in a closely fought encounter with all goals scored in the second half. Lanka Chaitanya Yesu and Maduru Ganga Chaitanya were among the scorers for Andhra Pradesh.
Hockey Mizoram secured a 5-3 win over Le Puducherry Hockey in the second match of the day in Division C. Lalmuansanga J. provided an early lead for Mizoram, with other players like Vanlalhmangaiha and Joseph Malsawmtluanga contributing to the victory. Meanwhile, Hockey Jammu and Kashmir faced a narrow 3-2 defeat against Goans Hockey in an intense match in Pool B of Division C.
Delhi Hockey dominated Telangana Hockey with a 7-2 win in Pool A of Division B, showcasing a strong performance. On the other hand, Hockey Karnataka displayed a commanding 5-0 victory over Hockey Himachal in Pool B of the same division. The day concluded with a 2-2 draw between Chhattisgarh Hockey and Hockey Bihar in Pool B of Division B, with both teams putting up a spirited performance.
