Patna, July 29 (IANS) The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, on Wednesday approved 24 agenda items, including major decisions related to agriculture, sports, urban development, policing, and public services.

Among the key decisions, the Cabinet approved Rs 9,748 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), a centrally sponsored scheme aimed at strengthening irrigation infrastructure in the state.

The Cabinet also approved Rs 23,698 crore for the implementation of the Fourth Agriculture Roadmap, which is intended to boost agricultural productivity and promote the overall development of the farm sector in Bihar.

In a significant decision under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, the Cabinet approved the filling of 22,000 vacancies for Anganwadi workers and helpers.

In another significant decision, the government approved the release of more than Rs 198 crore to the Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, for the payment of salaries and pensions.

The Cabinet gave its nod to the Bihar Sports Policy 2026, which includes the “Win a Medal, Get a Job” provision aimed at encouraging sporting excellence by offering government employment opportunities to medal-winning athletes.

It also approved Rs 53.71 crore under the centrally sponsored Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) for development projects in Kishanganj.

The Cabinet also approved the revision of the powers previously delegated to Regional Inspectors General of Police (IGs) and Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) concerning minor construction works.

It has also given the nod for the construction and securing of infrastructure for the State Forensic Science Laboratory, Police Laboratory, and Photo Bureau, and selection of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) on a nomination basis for designated government works in accordance with the Bihar Financial Amendment Rules, 2024.

The Bihar cabinet has also approved the amendments to the Bihar Registration Rules, enabling senior citizens aged 75 years and above to avail themselves of doorstep land and property registration services and more than Rs 57 crore for the construction of a residential complex for the National Investigation Agency (NIA) office in Patna.

The decisions are expected to strengthen Bihar’s agriculture, sports, urban infrastructure, policing, digital governance, and citizen-centric public services.
