Former Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) president Rakesh Tiwari has praised Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for being awarded ₹50 lakh by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his exceptional achievements. Tiwari commended Vaibhav’s skills, dedication, and described his success as a motivation for young cricketers in Bihar. He emphasized that Vaibhav’s accomplishments showcase talent, discipline, and fearlessness, serving as an inspiration for aspiring cricketers in the state.
Tiwari expressed gratitude towards the Bihar government for recognizing Vaibhav’s success, stating that such acknowledgments boost cricket in Bihar and encourage young athletes. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar honored Vaibhav earlier in the day, presenting him with the cash award in appreciation of his outstanding performances that have brought pride to Bihar and the nation.
Vaibhav’s remarkable display in the Under-19 World Cup 2026 final against England was highlighted, where he scored a century in just 55 balls, setting a record for the fastest hundred in an Under-19 World Cup final. Additionally, he broke the record for the most sixes in a single innings, hitting 15 sixes. His final score of 175 off 80 balls, including 15 fours and 15 sixes, at a strike rate of 218.75, with 150 runs from boundaries, was lauded for its brilliance.
Vaibhav is set to play for Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, having already commenced training for the tournament.
