In Bihar, the Vigilance Investigation Bureau has taken strong action against corruption, resulting in 13 absconding accused surrendering in various corruption cases. These individuals had been avoiding legal proceedings, leading to warrants for their arrest. All 13 accused surrendered before special courts in February and March 2026 under legal pressure.
The accused, including Bablu Singh, Ram Awtar Ram, Harendra Ram, Amresh Jha, Ravindra Prasad, Virendra Prasad Mandal, and Rinku Devi, are linked to cases involving misuse of official position. Additionally, Raj Kumar, Sharda Prasad Singh, Sunil Kumar Rai, Manish Kumar, Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh, and Pranay Kumar are involved in trap cases where they were caught accepting bribes.
The cases span across districts like Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Bhagalpur. The Vigilance Department had warned all absconding accused to surrender by March-end, failing which strict legal action would be taken.
The department is now gearing up to enhance enforcement drives in April, emphasizing a continued strong stance against corruption. No leniency will be shown to absconding accused, and legal proceedings will be pursued rigorously to ensure accountability. This signifies a more aggressive approach by vigilance authorities in Bihar, tightening the grip on corruption in the administrative system. Earlier, the Bihar Vigilance Investigation Bureau uncovered a bribery racket in Purnea district, arresting two government employees red-handed for accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000.
